Feedback from the class on our film opening.

when we showed our first cut of our film opening, when we showed our class we had not completly finished it because we have been having some technical problems which are interupting and slowing us down with our work.
The feedback that we got was some problems with our shots becuase when we put the shots together we realised that they didn't look rite but after re editing some of our work we think that it looks better now.
when we showed our first cut of our film opening, it didn't make our opening as effective as it could have been, after we showed our first cut we found the music that we wanted to use and now we have added the music that we wanted it makes the fim opening alot more scary and effective.

overall our feedback was positive and now we have nearly finished the group think that the fim opening will look good when it is finished.

Changes that were made.

When we were editing to make our final cut of our film opening, we saw that a few of our shots didn't look like so we Amy horsley and me were at my house re-filming, one of the walking through the door shots from the kitchen through the door to the bottom of the stairs, when re-filming this match on action shot, we were slightly worried because i had allready had blood on my old white top i had used for the first shooting so i had thrown it away, but thankfully i found a top which was similar the only difference was the back of the top but isnt noticeable in the shooting. We also had to re-film the shot where i put the glass down on the table from the kitchen into the living room, the angle was wrong, it looked like it was coming from a totally different direction to where i was coming from, so we re-filmed it and it was worth it because it would have looked out of place.
The date that we did our re-filming again was on the 5th december, and then for the last 5 days before we had to show our final cut of our film opening to the other groups in our class and our teacher we were editing, making sure that we had everything in place the way that we wanted to show the class.

Problems we had and would have liked to improve

When we were filming in my house, we had problems because my family, either kept getting in the way or they were talking when we were about to film this delayed us from filming.
other problems that we had were if it rained, it was one of the worries that we had, but we were lucky and only had a little bit of rain, so when it did rain we did the shots that we needed to do inside, and when it stopped we went outside to do our clown shots.
Shot 9 was our biggest problem our teacher said it was too long, but by the time she had seen it and told us, it was too late to change it, we couldn't take the shot out either because what was said in the shot, was an important part of the opening and without it the rest of the opening wouldn't make sense.

Pictures of the location we filmed in (my house)

All of these pictures are of the location that we filmed in, as you can see i have taken pictures of every part of the house that is seen in the film opening. We used the Kitchen, living room, stairs which was the shot that was a problem because the shot is too long. I decided to take a picture of the mirror as well because of the shot that we did with me looking in the mirror. I also took a picture of outside from the living room, to show where the clown was when we were filming and how the clown scared the main girl character.

Pictures of us working behind the scenes and

As you can see from the two pictures above, we were very tired after filming we finished at half 1 in the morning. These were pictures of us relaxing after doing some hard work.

This is a picture of the clown holding the knife this is one of the props that we used, she holds the knife over me before she kills me and also uses it to tap the window and scare me the main girl actress in the opening film.

These are pictures of us out of role, we decided to take pictures of us during the time that we were filming. As you can see we used fake blood on all of us who were acting. Me and Rob the main boy and girl die in the end, this is why we have fake blood to make it look more realistic.

Becci Taylor our clown has fake blood on her before and after her she kills the couple, Rob and me, she has the blood on her before hand because, it shows the clown is a killer and has killed many other people. We also put blood onto the window because it is our way of showing our title, and that the clown does that everytime after she kills people.

Becci Taylor our clown getting ready for shooting her scenes.

Pictures of us working behind the scenes

These pictures are of all of us working behind scenes. The first picture of Rob Kenny walking through the door (match on action) and Amy Horsley doing the camera work. which you can also see that in all the other pictures she is doing the camera work, with our help of where to put the camera and where to position it.

Filming

On thursday the 19th and friday the 20th Amy Horsley, Rob Kenny,Becci Taylor and me started filming our film opening of our film called "Ha Ha Your Dead". We decided to film at my house for our film opening, we did our film at night because we thought that it would add to the scary effect, all of the group stayed round my house that night due to us filming until 1am the next morning. That friday we did a bit more filming because we weren't very pleased with all of our shots which in the end were fine after redoing them, also that night we did some sound with the microphone such as the knife tapping on the window and the news reporter talking over one of the shots.

Things we had to do in preparation to the filming was applying make-up to becci (the clown) Rob and me (played the people who get killed in the opening). We were heavily relying on the weather to be nice for us to film outside because our clown make-up would have easily come off which would have ruined our filming time, we had to film in pitch black so we made sure that we were all willing to be up all night by the end of it we were very tired.

We filimed each shot fairly quick but sometimes there would be problems with our shots, like Amy had to move all of us in different directions to see what would have worked best and there were also things which would be things which we weren't supposed to have done which acctually worked quite well. we filmed most of our shots more than once so that we have more than one to pick from when were putting our final piece of work together.

We completed all shots outside first because we wanted to make sure that it didn't rain after we completed all the shots outside we started filming the shots inside the house this went well because we didn't need to make any adjustments to the costume when we started filming inside. After we had done the shots before the two characters got killed we had to put blood on mine and robs tops to add to the effect we thought that this looked very realistic and worked well.
We had a little problem afterwards because we looked at all of our work which we were planning on using and realised that we needed to do some shots of again the next day thankfully.

overall i think the filming went well and hopefully when we put it together to make our final opening it will be of a high standard.

Ideas that we had for our film opening and how we all came to agree on the horror film opening.

For our film opening all of us (Rob Kenny, Amy Horsley, Becci Taylor and me) got into our group and made choices that we were all happy to go along with, when deciding what genre to do, me and Rob had written out our story together because we both had the same idea, so we combined our ideas which created it us a horror film opening, Becci and Amy had both written there own ideas down, so we read all of our ideas and decided that the horror movie that me and Rob had produced was going to be the best for us to make, we all thought this because the music in the film opening would change alot, in most horror films the music is very dramatic and has a big part to play in films, an example would be when something that will make a audience jump would be a bang type of noise as soon as someone heres that they jump because it startles them.
In the film opening we decided there would be three different main characters, two of them were a boy and girl they were a couple just about to go out, and a villan disguised as a clown, a clown is normally someone that kids find as a happy, friendly person but someone who cannot be seen for there real self.

Editing and music.

From the time that we finished filming from the first time, we started editing what we had filmed, we started doing cuts, making sure that it all flowed well, after the second time of filming when we were re-filming some of the bits that we had done wrong, we started to put the music and the sound effects in. Our music and SFX came from this website. http://www.audio.lgfl.org.uk/ all these sounds had not been used before, so we had no copyright issues or complications when using and picking our sounds.
We had found other music for our film opening off of another sight but if we had used it, it would have been copyright, so we then found another website (the website above) which was a website which was music that isn't copyright.

Animatic film opening

Things which need to be added to this animatic is the real time so that we can know the accurate timing,if we were to do that we could make sure that every shot is exactly how we want it, also some of our shots have movement in them and our animatic doesn't move which doesnt give us an exact look of what our film opening is going to look like. the drawings could be better and also they could be more precised to make it easier for us when we film the opening, also when we do the filming we should make sure we know who were using as characters and we should have the props and clothing ready for the filming to make sure that it is as good as it can be and as realistic and scary as possible. changes we could have made were the shots could be a bit more complex, to make our skills shown well would and would show that were good at filming and making the horror film scary and effective, the last part of the opening gives a scary look because it shows that something bad is happening but only show parts of the bad things which are happening because the opening credits show between these quick scenes.

Animatic

We were unable to upload our animatic due to technical problems, but we did do it.

AS Media Foundation Production Main Production Blog Postings Week 1

The team which i am in includes Amy,Rob,becci and me the four of us all have and important role in the filming of this opening for our film, Becci and Amy are both filming, Rob and I will both be acting in the film as the two main characters in the opening, all four of us will be helping to edit to make the opening as effective and good as possible.
The film genre is horror and the audience we are going to target at are 18 and over possibly may be taken down to a 15 depending on how scary the film opening is when we have filmed it.
A brief outline of the film is that there used to be a funhouse which was in the middle of a field, a long time ago a child was killed whilst there, no one knows how it happened but ever since if anyone is to go in there they don't survive because a clown goes after them and kills them!
our opening shows a boy and a girl in there house sitting down and relaxing and the clown plays tricks on the girl because he appears and disappears to create illusions show she doesn't know if he is real or not, the boy is upstairs at this point but she tells him she is seeing the clown and mentions the funhouse, he calms her down and she goes back to sit down and the clown is at the window tapping on the glass with a knife and thats when the clown attacks and kills her, then the boy goes downstairs after getting changed and he see's she is dead thats when he see's the clown and there is a blackout.

Feedback for preliminary excercise

After the class had seen our preliminary excercise, the feedback we got was positive, our class and teacher thought that it flowed well, an example would be the match on action through the door, when we were filming it, we thought that it would have taken a while it took us 2 shots to perfect it, when editing it we made sure that it flowed nicely, so it didn't look like there was a gap missing when opening the door. so what we thought wasn't going to be successful turned out well, and pleased our teacher and the class.

Preliminary excercise information

For the preliminary excercise i worked with megan and charlotte, megan also was acting alongside me, Charlotte was in charge of the camera work.
The camera work which charlotte was mainly doing, was very good, as you can see everything is level, such as when megan and me are sitting down and talking we use an over the shoulder shot, which when shooting on each side is level, we used the rule of thirds to make sure that we made the camera shots as good as they could be.

AS media studies foundation portfolio: The preliminary excercise

Camera work
When we were filming we used a tripod to make sure the shots were all steady and focused,we used the rule of thirds to make sure everything looked in place, in all of our shots we made sure the camera level was the saem, also we made sure that the eye level was the same when filming people.
The camera had a good biew of each person so that each person/subject was clearly visible. i felt that all of our shots were good and we wouldn't change anything.

Editing
When we were editing we made sure that when we did match on action that is would look smooth, we didnt make ant jump cuts that made shots look out of place. When we did the shot reverse shot it was successful because we made sure the eye level and pace was correct, the transitions between shots were invisible, i wouldn't change any editing decisions because i felt it  looked smooth.

Sound, mise en scene and teamwork
The dialogue was good because we spoke loud and clear the dialogue used was also appropriate. The lighting was good because it was the same in all the shots so it didnt look like one person was in another place to the other the background was appropriate and not crowded.
our team wokred very well we all co-operated very well with eachother and i contributed by acting in the scenes.
